Description Antique Japanese porcelain statue depicting the Daruma who is regarded as the founder of the Zen sect of Buddhism. The statue is in good condition with no chips or cracks though there are marks and scratches from handling and the statue wears a darkened patina of age. This Daruma figuredates from the mid to late Japanese Showa period (1926-1989) or before and was acquired in the historic city of Shizuoka, Japan near the foot of Mt. Fuji.
